Saving Email and OneDrive Documents for my Replacement
Your supervisor can request that we leave your email account active for 30 days after you leave. Beyond that, we will have to restore any needed emails from backups. Email is not an information storage system. Here are some things you can do to make the transition smoother.
- You should set an auto-reply on your account notifying senders of where to send emails in the future.
- You should enable a forwarding rule to forward incoming emails to someone else.
- You can create a Sharepoint site (Office 365 Group) and move any OneDrive documents you want the next person to have onto that site. See the instructions below for how to do this. Anything on that site will not go away when your account is deactivated.
- Save any emails or attachments that are important as PDF files on the Sharepoint site as well.
