Edit Membership and Rights in Office 365 Groups Office 365 Groups are actually SharePoint sites on the backend. To manage the permissions, you need to use the SharePoint App. Click the group/site you need to modify. NOTE: You can only change permissions if you are the owner of the Group. Click the Gear icon in the upper right and choose Site Permissions from the menu. The Site Permissions sidebar will open on the right. From here, you can assign rights to Owners, Members, and Visitors. By Default, Owners have full control, and Members have Edit rights. To change Members to have only Read rights, click on the down arrow icon next to Edit under the entry in the site members section, and select Read. If you want to edit the individual members and owners of the Group, you can do that from the SharePoint App as well. From the Home page of the Group, Click on the Members icon in the upper right. The Group membership sidebar will appear on the right. From there you can choose whether each user is a member or an owner. They will then have the rights you assigned the Members and Owners in previous steps. You can also remove members form the Group if they no longer need access.
